Conundrum Hot Springs, end of September, 2003

Long ago Josh proposed hiking a two-day, 23-mile loop in the Maroon Bells area. We haven't gotten to it yet, but in the same area, we did take a trip to North America's highest hot springs. The trip was delayed until the aspens had reached their maximum spectral width. The Maroon Creek trailhead is about a 4 1/2-hour drive from Boulder, via Independence Pass. From there it's about 8 1/2 miles to the hot springs (starting at 8700' and ending at 11,200').
