Telescopes at the summit of Haleakala, December 2019

We visited the ATLAS and Pan-STARRS telescopes at the top of Haleakala. Both of these telescopes are funded by NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office and used for searching for near-earth asteroids (NEAs) that could potentially hit the Earth. Thanks much to Larry Denneau (U Hawaii / IfA Manoa, and Co-I of ATLAS) and Rick Anderson (U Hawaii / IfA Maui) for showing us around.
