Longs Peak, Labor Day 2002

NB: The peak is named for Major Stephen Harriman Long, who explored the area as part of the Louisiana Purchase in the early-mid 1800's. Although the mountain was named after him, he did officially lose an apostrophe in the deal. Interestingly, Longmont was named for the peak, and not the Major, so it should probably be called Longsmont in a perfect world.

NB: When we returned to the parking lot at 4:30 PM, we noted upwards of 600 people signed in at the register so far for the day. (The first party left at 12:00 AM, followed by 12:15, 12:31, 1:15, 1:18...)
