After two days of prep work in Bogota, it's time to head to the occultation path. It's now Wednesday morning, and we're at about T-2.5 days until the occultation on Friday evening. We've been monitoring the weather constantly. There's no one ideal place to go, so we split up: the local Colombian observers are headed eastward to Barbosa and Suaita, while the six of us and one local will head west, to the area around Puerto Boyaca. By spreading out, we hedge our bets and improve the odds of getting good data.
Colombia is pretty rural and mountainous, so we can't just go anywhere: we are limited to observe where the occultation path (solid black lines) intersect cities and major roads.
