And we've all made it to Puerto Boyaca, our home base for the next four days! You can see a telescope tube in the back of the vehicle. Time to find a hotel with telescope-safe parking!

Puerto Boyaca is a small town -- maybe a population of 20,000. Many Colombian towns are built around a main square, which gives a nice center to the downtown, but our square was unfortunately closed for reconstruction.

Up until 10 years ago, Puerto Boyaca was a hotbed of activity due to guerillas, cartels, and paramilitiaries. Diana tells us that in that time, the entrance to the town was essentially on lockdown outside of daytime hours -- no one could come in or out.
