Full Resolution Back in the media center, that's APL's chief photographer Ed Whitman (standing), with NASA chief photographer Bill Ingalls. I ask Bill what he's got, and he clearly made the shot of the countdown, with the kids and confetti.
Yeah, I could take that shot... if I had six do-overs to get it right. He nailed it, and it's everywhere the next day. His shot is on the front cover of the Washington Post. The New York Times's photog had the same shot, from the same angle, and it's on their front-cover as well. Of all the New Year's Eve countdowns out there, how awesome to have ours featured everywhere.
