For an overview, here's a plot of where on Earth the occultation is visible. The star will first blink out for observers in Africa. Then the path goes acros the ocean, and will be visible in South America a few minutes later.

The mission decided to put most of its eggs in the Senegal basket (20 telescopes), and send a smaller crew to Colombia (3 telescopes). I was part of this Colombia-bound group.

The line here shows the rough position and width of the shadow path. The `true' position of the centerline was unknown, due to uncertainty in the position of both Ultimate Thule and the star.
